ACOSVO Active Leaders Programme Renamed To Honour Ian Findlay CBE
ACOSVO’s active leaders programme, which encourages the sector’s Chief Executive and senior leaders to rethink how they meet, network and offer peer support has been renamed in memory of late Chair, and Paths for All Chief Executive, Ian Findlay CBE.
The Ian Findlay Active Leaders Programme will relaunch with a networking walk, in line with current restrictions, in Edinburgh on July 15th at 3pm. Satellite meet ups and walks are also being encouraged by the organisation.
Ian had been on the ACOSVO board since 2009, serving as Vice Chair and subsequently Chair until he passed away suddenly in March of this year. Ian was also Chief Officer of walking charity, Paths for All for 17 years where he passionately promoted the value of nature, the outdoors, and incorporating activity into daily life.
ACOSVO Chief Executive, Pat Armstrong OBE, said: “It feels fitting to rename our active leaders programme after someone so dedicated to leading the change toward a more active lifestyle and who totally understood the importance of wellbeing from a leadership perspective. Ian didn’t see exercise and getting outdoors as a hobby or luxury but as a necessity to function as a leader and human. This past year we have drastically shifted the way we have worked and lived, and we know more so than ever that meeting, networking and sharing ideas no longer needs to be done round a table (or behind a screen).
Ian led many of our previous walks, always extolling the virtues of being out in nature, moving the body and mind and while we miss him dearly, we are keen to ensure that legacy, and celebration of Ian’s passion, lives on.”
